If you were thinking that the Lindens were suddenly going to go on the land tools for the Governor Linden Estate and hit "return all objects" for the name "Umnik Hax", guess again!

This is how they will do it.

Note the very first case happens to be my case, FWIW, in Alice, which I've abuse-reported, oh, 3-4 times in various ways, as "intolerance" or "harassment" or whatever. I guess I should be pleased that for the first time in 3 years (really!) one of my abuse reports -- which must number in the thousands with all my tenants complaining -- has been published in the blotter.

Of course it's...Just a "warning". Enabling that SOB to keep griefing, lurking around to buy land and do other nasty things with it, whatever. Although the case is clear-cut, it's just a "warning" -- nothing more. 14 days of this will go on, without land renting or selling, all over town, continuing to cause business loss or just loss of enjoyment.

In theory, Durak Hax ("Umnik" means "Smartie" in Russian; "Durak" means "Dumbie" could just pick up those parcels of his set to $4931 or $9366 or whatever the hell, and leave the $200 ones, arguing that those are "normal" prices and not fitting under the new rules. It might literally take months to whittle away a 32-slot ad farm like this, given the warnings, duckings, dodgings, repeat appeals -- and not just to Umnik, but his secondaries and tertiaries, the Keeno Tidewaters and all the other opportunists and scuzz-bags feeding on Umnik's original cut. I could be sending several ARs a day and be months away from a solution. So I'm starting a timer today, 2/14/08, to see how long it will take to get rid of this blight. I've already purchased the abandoned land behind it off the bigger land extortion racket called "The Linden Auction" and I've set up the Alice United Front Against Ad-Farms, where you can pick up a free no-ad-farms t-shirt and donate to the cause.

Oh, and score one big one for Umnik, mission accomplished as far as his antisemitism racket. He's got at least one forums poster to believe he is "a Russian Orthodox Jew living in Germany" (he may or may not be, who the hell knows). But what that means that willy-nilly, the concept of cunning extortion is associated with Jews, reinforcing ancient stereotypes.

BTW, in our Brave New World, that Has Such People In It, the "Police Blotter" is now called "Incident Manage Report," as there aren't any police under communism when the state withers away, there is only "management" lol.

I think you uderestimate the impact a little bit, Prokofy.
Firstly, I completely agree with you on this particular individual. Only a perma-ban could save us all. :)
As to what you said - relax. They are accumulating a 'critical mass' of evidence right now. I couldn't log in this morning, but I will. I will add approx 30 AR to yours, other people will do the same... Guess what happens next? They WILL press the button you've mentioned. :) I'm positive.

I'm not sure about you, but I, persnally, will be satisfied if they remove what he has 'accomplished' and threaten the jerk to permaban him if he continues to litter.

The flip side of this is all the moaning minnies running around crying that they want to report plots that don't meet their standards for an aesthetic build and the full spiral into zoned mainland, which I oppose on existing mainland.

Then there are those who want to report any plot of any size that they deem over priced, which could encompass those who set their plots for sale for ridiculous amounts just in case anybody wants to pay that amount, they don't really want to sell but they will for an outrageous price.

There's a danger that this could get out of hand.

As for the ad farmers, they rocked the boat too hard on the new sims, that's the straw that broke the camel's back and although they will now be looking at ways of trying to continue their extortion, the writing is on the wall for this form of extortion and any attempts at "art" are a last throw of the dice.

The language of the policy, as incomplete as it is, does say "visual spam" -- it would be better if they use TOS language precisely, which used the term "repetitive". That distinguishes it from a large plot set at a high price with nothing repetitive on it.

It really chafes my butt that these Lindens couldn't doing anything about this for 2 years until their brand-clean auction sims got spammed and they couldn't sell them. What the hell.

Maybe the very fact that your abuse reports on file number in the thousands is EXACTLY why it took so long for one to be published! You ever hear the story about the boy who cried wolf? You'd probably get a lot more ARing done if you had your residents make the ARs instead of making them on their behalf like JLU does.

But seriously, I agree with Ciaran about the potential mess this would make to all involved that AREN'T ad farmers. This could lead to more "broadly offensive" vigilanteism where anyone whose avatar is too short or too petite or not dressed in a way deemed appropriate to the citizen on patrol will get harassed and ARed for being an ageplayer. Only now it'll be if the parcel isn't made in a way that the citizen on patrol deems appropriate (they could always use the term "griefer tower") or is priced above what they feel it should be.

Didn't the Nazis have a program where you could rat out your neighbor for sedition without offering any proof?
