Traffic bots?

Everytime I think we're so over these, I see them again on the grid.

Set your map to 'Fietzo' (where my original SL home was), and you might see a -LOT- of green dots in the sim just north of it, on the south-eastern end.

- That's a "Shop" were you can rent a traffic bot. Right out there in the open, with signs even declaring itself as such.

It was there in 2009 when I first AR'd it, and it was still there when I looked at that part of the map last weekend...

(to be fair when I saw it last weekend, I didn't TP over, I just noted the building on the map looked the same as it did when I had visited earlier this year, and had the same number of dots.)

The ones in your screenshot might be Tiny Empires bots though (hard to say, as both traffic bots and TE-bots use group tags that try to make themselves look like something else, and your screenshot doesn't show that anyway) - they have "that look" to them; dressed up in freaky weird freebies. There was a rash of them in late summer in the ocean sims of mainland. Or at least in late summer they hit the sims near where I frequent. Maybe now they've just moved to other ocean sims...

The guy in the bottom right of your screenshot even looks like a TE bot that used to "hang out" in the linden water right next to my boat.

I've AR'd them too - they make sailing frustrating, but other residents tell me they're not a ToS violation, so I just gave up on that cause for now.

No, a number of these actually had group tags on their heads saying TRAFFIC INJECTORS as a kind of branding label. Ridiculous.

Others were clearly bots -- greeters, group joiners etc without anything but one group and "Hi join our group" or something on their profile.

Nearly all of these are bots.

Two of them are dressed in boxes because they are in mesh that my viewer can't see. They have a tag advertising how you should get viewer 3.x to "see my dress" -- it's like some sort of advertisement to get people to switch to the viewer to see mesh. I don't think it's sponsored by LL, but who knows.
