Many people have been affected by Hurricane Sandy on the East Coast.
We're all safe and sound so far, but we have no power or water in lower Manhattan. We had to evacuate from our building, where some floors are still under water but where we evacuated to was no better, and also ended up without power or water. The earliest we might see the power come back on is Sunday night, but I imagine it will be later. So don't look for answers to your service requests earlier than Monday.
Meanwhile, we're roaming around upper Manhattan where the electricity is still working and joining the mobs fighting for food, bathrooms and most important -- power to charge up the gadgets! There's wi-fi in a few places, but weak. So we can get phones charged but the laptop runs out and in any event doesn't work for SL.
Long story short, it's not possible for me or my son or some other helpers we have to get logged on to Second Life to serve customers at this time.
I realize this is particularly difficult for the sims Ravenglass and Refugio, where due to constant, savage griefers, we had to turn "build" off on the land. We also had to turn off the ability to undeed or move deeded media -- again due to griefing and theft.
So -- blame not the storm or our evacuation, but griefers -- if you are experiencing difficulties now.
In most cases, you should be able to join the group and start building and decorating immediately in these self-service rentals, and refund if you can't get everything you need!
If you experience any difficulties with payments or refunds, keep in mind that you have a record of your payment in My Account on secondlife.com when you log in. And I have the same record, and I will make sure everyone gets credited for any amount owed them.
Sorry for the inconvenience!

Wishing you and all your neighbours the best in these difficult times.
While I generally stay far away from Ravenglass as a rule (lookee~loo's can be as annoying as griefers, I won't be one), I did open the map and look for green dots from a distance a few times during evening hours. It has looked fairly calm.
Gently recommend that if people truly wish to help out, rent a parcel from Prok this winter. It's straightforward and automatic for anyone simply reading the instructions, and hard to go wrong with a refund button available.

I saw a video showing residents "dumpster diving" to get food. It sounds like the federal government's response is weak. If there is anything I can do to help you in Second Life, please let me know.

Refugio's been pretty quiet as of late, which is a good thing! Best wishes that some normalcy can be restored to you and your loved ones soon.
